Balance is something that affects us off-roaders quite a bit, in my case it was a complete lack of it that put me on my ear at Callart Cottage during this year’s Pre-65 Scottish. Of the three sections there it was the easiest of them as well! Motocrossers – or scramblers if you prefer – and enduro riders too all need a bit of balance to perform properly. The bike too needs to be in balance, at least all those spinning bits of it do or the riding experience is exceedingly unpleasant. Get the balance factor wrong on say something like a big British twin and parts will start to break, or drop off, teeth will slacken and vision will be blurred, which all adds up to a spoiled experience or what’s probably worse, finishing further down the results.
